Make Sure Your Wipers Are Ready To Wipe Away Anything!

Spring is not too far away and all those showers will bring those flowers so NOW is the best time to get your vehicle ready for all the rain your vehicle will be taking on! Many of us know the importance of our wipers and if you don’t, news flash they help improve our visibility when driving in snow, rain, and anything else mother nature might throw at us...literally! The bad thing is that many of us know how important they are but they are one of the most overlooked pieces of our vehicles when it comes to maintenance. Whether it’s because we don’t use them that often or because we kind of forget about them, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t replace them from time to time. If you’re not sure when it is appropriate to do so, check out our tips below! If you find you’re in need of new wipers, head over to our site or stop in to order yourself a new pair of genuine Nissan wipers. Who knows you might even find a coupon when you check out our service coupons.   It’s time to change your wipers if….
  • Streaking occurs when the rubber squeegee dries, hardens, and cracks
  • Skipping occurs when the blade develops a curvature from lack of use
  • Wearing occurs with extensive use and is when the rubber edges are rounded instead of squared
  • Splitting is caused when the sun’s rays penetrate the rubber squeegee, causing it to break down
  • Bent frames are caused by inconsistent contact with the glass surface, creating streaking or skipping
If you’re running outside to go inspect your vehicle to see if it’s time to change your wipers be sure to look for the following!
  • Broken frames
  • Metal corrosion
  • Visible cracks
  • Rounded squeegee edges
  • Loose or unsecured wiper blades
  • Check that the squeegee is secure in the wiper frame
Visibility is extremely important to safe driving. Although drivers depend on their wiper blades to clear rain, sleet, snow, etc., many wait too long to replace them. Do yourself a favor and be sure to maintain wiper blades regularly which can maximize your visibility, efficiency, and reliability! If you want some tips on how to maintain the life of your wiper blades check them out below!
  • When you get gas, be sure to clean your windows too
  • Clean your squeegee often
  • Never use your wipers to de-ice your window
  • Pull your blades up during snow/ice storms

5 Repairs You Should Leave To Certified Technicians | Frederick, MD

Are you the type of driver who likes to take on new challenges? Maybe you’re the only one you trust to work on your precious ride! Well, regardless, we commend you on your independence and ingenuity if you DIY some of your vehicle's regular maintenance needs. But, there really are some jobs that you should leave up to certified trained technicians. Below we have our list of repairs that you should leave to the professionals! Check out our list, and know that if you need service done on your vehicle that the technicians at Younger Nissan are timely, experienced, and up to date on all the latest models and servicing equipment. Schedule your service today and let us get your ride back on the road good as new! 5 Repairs You Should Leave To Certified Technicians Timing-belt replacement: When it comes to many cars the timing-belt replacement is part of a major maintenance visited every 60,000-100,000 miles and is one of the biggest repair bills you’ll end up seeing for your car. Even though it might be tempting to save your money and DIY, DON’T. The potential for damaging your engine is huge! Transmission maintenance or repair: The automatic transmissions contain thousands of small parts and narrow passageways for hydraulic fluid and one grain of sand could wipe out your transmission, so leave this to the professionals. Overheating: With some level of training you could do some cooling-system maintenance but if the engine is already overheated, forget about it! Drivability problems and error codes: When your car doesn’t start, or you have drivability issues like stalling, hesitation, or surging, home mechanics simply don’t have the training to diagnose and troubleshoot. Leave this to the professionals and save yourself money on possible damages. Replacing suspension components: It's impractical and cost-prohibitive for a home mechanic to own some of the specialty equipment needed to get the job done right, while labor costs aren't all that high for typical suspension repairs, so you might as well leave them to the pros
