Not only can you cause an electrical fire, but you run the risk of putting a lot of work into something and just not having it work at all. This is an easy install for professionals, and you know that they won’t catch your vehicle on fire and they’ll return your vehicle to you with a perfectly operational electrical component. Fuel Pump. This is a very precise piece of equipment in your vehicle, so the installation requires a lot of finesse and the smallest mistake can total your engine from the inside out. Leave the risk to trained professionals! Engine Diagnostics. Sure, you can buy those little code readers that will turn your check engine light off, but turning a light off has never solved anyone’s problem (unless the problem was that you were not in a dark room and wanted to be). Does anyone else like to avoid responsibility at all cost, or is that just me? That is the realization I came to this weekend when I opened my trunk and was mortified to see that my trunk had gotten its own episode of hoarders, and it was all my fault. You know, life gets pretty hectic and sometimes we don’t have time or energy to bring that one bag in, and then one bag turns in two, and two turns into your whole closet and the next thing you know there's no room in the car for passengers. So, then it’s just easier to throw everything in the trunk and bring it inside when you get home...where it lives for months… sound familiar? If it does, this one goes out to you little hoarders, we will get through it together. As much as you don’t want to dedicate hours to cleaning out your car, you have to because this is our fault and we must face the consequence. But for real, you will thank yourself for doing because let's face it, summertime is all about traveling, and vacation, and if you can fit the luggage in the car there’s gonna be a bigger problem. So, roll up your sleeves with me and let's organize this trunk! You might not even realize why it’s so important to have a clean trunk. Yes, it’s important to actually have available cargo space in your car but, there are even more beneficial reasons! For one, if your trunk is full that means you have to put loose articles inside the vehicle and this can become dangerous. If you have to break abruptly things could be sent flying through your car, injuring you, or rolling under the pedals hindering you from braking or accelerating. Having a clean car leads to having a happier drive/ride. Most people don’t like mess and clutter, so having a space like a trunk to put unwanted things is a good idea, but remember to bring it in at the end of the day!! Lastly, cleaning your car could actually save you money! The extra weight of all the junk in your car can have a negative impact on both fuel mileage and your wallet. So now you’re in total agreeance with me, but you’re still wondering what are the best organization hacks, right? Well, the first thing is to remove everything… I know, I know, but bear with me. This is the easiest way to stay organized, start with a blank slate, and then go from there. Your next step is to decide what can stay, and what desperately needs to go. Keep things such as windshield washer fluid, oil, deicer, a first aid kit, etc. The next step is to get an organizer, it can be as simple as a device that keeps the shopping bags from falling over, to a multi-compartment organizer, whatever fits your lifestyle and helps you stay organized. Finally, a rule we should all live by, and that's “keep it out of your trunk.” That means if it's not a necessity it shouldn't stay there! I know easier said than done, but I believe in you! Okay, now that’s over you can sit back and relax, but remember my tips for next time and vow to never make your trunk your personal closet, or trash can ever again! As winter approaches and the weather gets colder, we’re starting to drive with our windows closed more often. That means that we’re using our air vents more often as well, which in turn means that if there’s a stink, you’re gonna smell it. Here’s our tips for making sure your air vents are clean and stink-free so you can smell the freshness all winter long! First of all, vacuum out the vents with the hose part of your vacuum. This will get dust and debris out of there, which will also decrease the allergens floating around your car. This means less sneezing while driving, yay! Don’t forget to do ALL the vents, especially the one up front next to your windshield. We tend to forget this one. After vacuuming, use a cloth dampened with water or an all-purpose cleaning solution to clean the vents out. You can also use a Q-tip or cotton bud dampened with the same solution to really get in there and clean out all the cracks and crevices. Be prepared to go through a lot of these. Run your air system on high with all the windows down (and the A/C off!) for a few minutes to dry everything out, both in your vents and in the A/C evaporator tank. You should also take a look at your cabin air filter. Your owner’s manual and dealer will know how to do this, and if it’s dirty and needs replacement, it’s an easy and inexpensive thing to do. Finally, and this is only for that little bit of extra pizazz, find your favorite scent of air freshener, stick it somewhere (I prefer the ones that clip onto your vents) and there you go! As of the writing of this blog, football season’s been going for three weeks. There’s still a lot more of the season to go, and what better way to celebrate with your friends and family than by tailgating in the parking lot before the big game? In this blog, we’ll give you our tips for things you should have with you when you are throwing your party, ways to pack a cooler, and tips for having fun no matter what the weather brings. So, for things you should have with you, we have this list. You can store all of these things in a toolbox or a tackle box very easily, and this can live under your seats, in the trunk, or in the bed of your truck! The items are: Spatulas Tongs can opener Toothpicks wooden skewers basting brush mini flashlight trash bags paper towels wet wipes hand sanitizer sunscreen poncho plastic zip bags Sharpie Masking tape your favorite condiments, spices, and seasonings Packing a cooler efficiently is a majorly good party trick that’ll be sure to keep everyone happy. When you have enough food and beverages for everyone, that’s pretty much a guarantee that the tailgate will be awesome. So, here’s how to do it! Put your pre-chilled cans of soda and bottles of water at the bottom of the cooler and put a layer of ice on top, making sure that ice gets between the cans and bottles. Then put your food items, packed in watertight ziplock bags, on top of that bottom layer. Make sure the cooler is packed tightly so that no warm air gets in! If the weather is on the cold side, you can also turn your cooler into a warming oven! Check it out here. A good idea is to bring thermoses full of hot soup or cider to keep your guests warm if it’s a chilly day.
