During the 2014 National Drive Electric Week Nissan was the exclusive automotive sponsor for the over 100 events that took place globally during the course of the annual week-long celebration. This celebration, which is organized by Plug In America, Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association first began back in 2011. Originally called National Plug-in Day, the event was extended to a week long affair that celebrates and spreads the word about plug-in models.

The Nissan LEAF has become the most popular electric model globally. In the U.S. alone, the amount of LEAF owners has exceeded 60,000.
