Do you have a new driver in the house? Perhaps youâre the proud parent of a new driver and youâre looking to teach them a few tips and tricks of being behind the wheel this spring. Luckily for you, we have a few of our own tips waiting for you right here on this weekâs blog. And who better to take advice from than the car people? There is no one better! So, letâs dive into those teen driving tips and if you have any questions, give our team a shout. We are here for you and your teen driver!Â
Stay Calm, Stay AlertÂ
- This is one of our most important tips for teen drivers. Being behind the wheel can be a bit nerve-racking but it doesnât have to be. Itâs important to teach them to stay calm but always stay alert. The road is ever-changing and itâs crucial to be alert of your surroundings and stay calm to ensure that you stay safe.Â
Practice HazardsÂ
- Road hazards are an important part of driving. We encourage you to practice passing or encountering road hazards best you can. Whether itâs neighborhood interactions, road construction, or animals, itâs a good idea to be proactive and practice a variety of driving situations your teen may encounter.Â
Take It On The HighwayÂ
- This might be the scariest part of being behind the wheel as a new, young driver. We encourage you to take your teen onto a highway in the right lane for them to get a feel for traffic flow, road etiquette, and how to merge correctly. As always, make sure your teen is prepared and we recommend avoiding rush-hour until your driver is completely comfortable.Â
Keep A Checklist
- Make a checklist for your teen and each time they successfully accomplish their task, check it off. This will help keep track of their progress and it will also serve as a way to keep them accountable on some of the things they need to work on as a driver.Â
