Nissan Self healing iPhone Case

Self Healing iPhone Case from Nissan Technologies

This week in Rolle, Switzerland Nissan introduced a cross over technology application from the automotive industry that should delight smart-phone users. Understanding that smart phone users are fanatic about keeping their phone looking new, the company has unveiled the world’s first Self-Healing smart-phone case. The smart-phone accessory, designed to work for iPhone 4 and 4s models, uses Scratch Shield technology. Scratch Shield is Nissan’s own self-healing paint finish used on automobiles. The scratch shield technology enables light scratches to repair themselves in just a few days. The company says deeper scratches can take up to a week to recover. The Scratch Shield technology was first used in the automotive industry in 2005. Scratch Shield is used on select automobile models. Applying this technology to the teeming smart-phone accessories market is a brilliant marketing idea. The company’s entry into the smart-phone accessories sector will also promote and draw attention to the unique qualities of the company’s automobile model paint finishes. This is the first time that Scratch Shield technology has been used outside the automotive industry. Use of Scratch-Shield technology for smart-phone covers will greatly lengthen the amount of time owners can keep their phone looking brand new. Currently this new product is undergoing public trials in Europe. This new iPhone case combines Scratch-Shield technology with other innovations that result in a durable, long lasting and tight fitting accessory. Benefits for users are as follows. Self healing of scratches due to advanced Scratch Shield elastic properties Gel-like feel to the touch which provides a better grip Improved robustness of materials resulting in longer product life The initial batch of the new Scratch-Shield technology for smart-phone accessories is undergoing consumer field-testing in Europe in the first months of 2012. Selected consumers, mostly from the field of journalism, are performing these first field tests. If the results are as expected the company hopes to put the new iPhone case on sale to the public some time in the second half of 2012. Early reports indicate the new product is drawing a lot of attention. The company has already had contacts from North America requesting to be included in the initial testing program.
