The Future of Driving
In the not too distant future, we are expecting that most car travel will be at the very least semi-autonomous. However, autonomous vehicles donât just affect the driver. It has the potential to send vast ripples of change throughout society.
“People need to have a positive mindset to introduce the technology,” said Tetsuya Iijima, General Manager of Autonomous Drive Technology Development Department at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “For society to change⌠people need to understand that this is good for their future. Then, customers need to understand what the technology can offer.â he continues.
In other words, a step-by-step approach to new technology is essential in this case. Customers want to be confident in the vehicle when it comes to reliability, cybersecurity, and safe interactions between the vehicle and the environment. Nissan Intelligent Driving with ProPilot has this covered. It uses five radar units, four laser scanners, and an eight-way camera system to watch and predict occurrences on the road and has seen widespread success with the Nissan Serena in Japan.
While the switch to autonomous features and driving will take a few years to introduce, evolve, and accept, itâs best that driverâs now understand that the changes are coming and to keep an open mind when introduced to a new technology.

Younger Auto Group Celebrates 40 Years
Younger Auto Group, the parent company of Younger Nissan of Frederick, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year! The late Ted Younger decided to start a new kind of dealership in 1976, one that valued family, integrity, and community. Those values have stayed with the company through the hard work of Tedâs son, Brandon, who joined the company in 1988. Small businesses play an integral part in the growth and prosperity of any community and Younger Auto Group is happy to take on the responsibilities of being a leader. Not only have Younger Auto Group dealers stayed respectable places to buy and service a vehicle but they have also provided a steady workplace for many of our friends and neighbors. The group has also had the pleasure of contributing time and money to over 56 community organizations including Heal of Washington County, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Breast Cancer Awareness of Cumberland Valley.
We know that while our commitment to our community is unending and our business values are strong, we wouldnât be where we are today without the support of our customers and community. Thank you to everyone who has had a positive impact on our business over the last 40 years.

Nissan Takes Standing Out Of Waiting In Line
Autonomous Driving Technology has been long in the works for Nissan as they continue looking for ways to create more ways to promote the benefits of Intelligent Mobility. In fact, the brand has already introduced their flagship autonomous driving technology ProPILOT which has since been the inspiration to several other autonomous technologies. The company previously introduced the Intelligent Parking Chair which uses sensors to autonomously return to its original position once it is no longer in use.
Now, they have introduced their latest innovation, the ProPILOT Chair! This chair is designed predominantly to cater to individuals who are waiting in line by providing them with a chair that will allow they to sit while they wait but still move forward in the line. The technology in this chair are similar to its namesake autonomous technology, ProPILOT which us used to detect the distance between a vehicle and the one in front of you so that it maintains a safe distance at all times while keeping you moving forward.
Nissan has taken this same idea and put it into the creation of a chair that detects the distance between itself and the chair next to it so it the front chair moves then the next chair will automatically move the same distance. The idea is that these chairs will keep moving forward in line for you so that you can sit back and relax while you wait. Find out more on the video below:

Fall Driving Safety Tips
Now that Fall has officially arrived, Younger Nissan of Frederick would like to remind all of our customers from Frederick, Germantown, Hagerstown, and Gaithersburg, MD to take extra care during the change of season. The new season means new road conditions, as well as changes in daylight, temperature, and so much more. So while you are enjoying all of the fun aspects of Fall including pumpkin and apple picking, Halloween, and cider, keep these seven driving tips in mind to make sure that you make your way to every hayride and pumpkin patch safely.
1.) Get Your Vehicle Ready – Have all of the different crucial parts of your vehicle checked out at the start of the new season. The change in temperature can impact your vehicle especially since it has been used to the warmer conditions. Have a look through all of the systems but especially check out the heating system, windshield wipers, brakes, engine, battery, and tires.
2.) Use Your Rain Smarts – While driving in the rain may not be a new experience you can expect it to happen a bit  more often over the next several weeks. As the temperature gets colder and the moisture in the air increases rainfall will increase as well as foggy conditions. Remember to slow down your speed, especially in heavy rain to avoid hydroplaning and use your low beams in fog, not your high beams.
3.) Adjust Your Eyes – We will lose about one to two minutes of sunlight per day according to the national Weather Service. Therefore, you will need to keep in mind that your evening commute which has been in full daylight for months will be changing to sunset, dusk, and eventually dark. Once it is completely dark when you leave work make sure that you allow your eyes to adjust to the dark before you start your drive since you have just spent all day in a lit office.
4.) Avoid The Glare of the Sun – Going along the same lines as the previous tip, before it does becomes completely dark after work you will be leaving with the sun lower in the sky which means that the glare of the sunset will be much more prevalent. Be sure to keep this in mind as you head off on your way home at the end of the day.
5.) Look Out For Deer – Have you ever noticed how much more deer you see out and about during this time of year? Well, the reason for that is, Â Autumn is their mating season so they are going to be just about everywhere. So make sure to keep your eyes peeled for them darting into the road especially if your drive near or through a wooded area.
6.) No Braking On Leaves – The abundance of multi-colored leaves that cover the trees, and eventually the roads, are beautiful to look at but can be dangerous for drivers. When leaves get wet they become slippery and create road conditions that are similar to driving on ice. Try and avoid patches of leaves in the road whenever possible and make sure you do not brake on them as the slipperiness could cause you to slide.
7.) Driver Carefully on Bridges – Icy patches tend to form more quickly on bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas as the temperature cools, especially during the morning frost. Be extra cautious when driving around these areas.
