“These grants enhance the learning experience of hundreds of Mississippi students every year, giving them opportunities they would not have enjoyed otherwise,” says Jane Alexander, president and CEO of the Community Foundation of Greater Jackson. “We are so grateful that Nissan demonstrates its commitment to education with its financial support year after year.”

The grants that Jane Alexander is referring to are 34 grants, totaling in $89,360, awarded by the Nissan/BankPlus Education Mini-Grant Program to further innovative and creative learning opportunities in the Canton and Madison County school districts of Mississippi. Some of the things that these grants will help fund include science laboratory supplies, materials to support the creation of a one-act opera, robotics kits, and a printer to enable the publishing of original writing.

In addition to over $11 million in grants, scholarships, and gifts, Nissan and its employees are avid volunteers and have been since 2003.
