Many consumers today are looking to spend responsibly and save money wherever they can. The same goes for car owners and drivers. If you consider yourself to be one or the other and in the market for a new car you’re going to want to keep reading this blog.

According to the recently released 2016 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) “CO2 and Fuel Economy Trends” Report, Nissan is the most fuel efficient full-line automaker in the United States for the third year running. This makes them the only automaker among the top seven manufacturers on the list to offer a full vehicle lineup, including mid- and full-size trucks and SUVs. Nissan expects to continue this trend next year and has plans for continued improvements in future model years.

“As consumers demand more fuel efficient options, Nissan continues to incorporate engineering advancements such as reduced powertrain friction, improved aerodynamics and the use of efficient Xtronic transmissions in each new model,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America. “Evolving industry regulations continue to challenge us to provide the safest, most efficient products to our customers, and this distinction reaffirms the exemplary effort our engineers and designers have taken to ensure continuous vehicle improvements and owner satisfaction.”

So when you buy a Nissan from Younger Nissan of Frederick, not only are you getting an affordable vehicle, you’re also getting one that’s going to save you money at the pump.

If you have a child/grandchild/niece/nephew/etc in school right now, you’ve probably heard the term STEM. For the uninitiated STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. These are the subjects that many schools are putting an emphasis on right now. Nissan, as always, is looking to help give kids a better chance at the future which is why they have continued their support of the BEST Robotics program for over 20 years.

The BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) competition held its first national competition in 2010 where the top finishers from three regions competed to be called the best in the nation. Today, BEST Robotics has over 850 middle schools and high schools and over 18,000 students participating nationwide.

“If you look across the street from the NISSAN plant in Smyrna, you’ll see a $35,000,000 facility where Nissan has partnered with the state of Tennessee to basically bring STEM jobs into the state to train people on things like robotics and mechatronics,” said Williams. “We need those jobs. We need them now and we need them in the future.”

“Nissan began its relationship with Habitat for Humanity more than a decade ago with a donation of $1 million, 50 TITAN trucks and an abundance of employee volunteer time following Hurricane Katrina,” said Dan Bedore, director, Nissan Division Communications. “This relationship goes to the heart of our values, not only as a corporate citizen, but as neighbors in the communities in which we live, work and serve.”

That relationship has also been built upon over the last decade with thousands in donations when you factor in the additional funds, trucks, and volunteer hours Nissan has contributed as a company.

The most recent build was that of the 11th home in the Nashville area which was completed in an astounding six-days. This build was possible, in part, due to a recent contribution of another $1 million from Nissan to help expand Habitat for Humanity’s fleet and to help build even more houses in the areas where Nissan has an operational presence.

Watch the video below to see how Nissan and Habitat for Humanity came together to build a house in six days.

The 2017 TITAN half-ton builds on the foundation of design innovation established by the original Titan full-size pickup, including bed and cab features that are now industry standard, and the rugged workhorse sensibility of the new TITAN XD.

The Active Lifestyle Vehicle Awards (ALV) are an annual on-road and off-road vehicle evaluation program that were held October 21-22 in Chandler, Arizona this year. More than 50 Southwest-based and national automotive and active lifestyle media and athletically focused consumers were the judges this year and they awarded Nissan two of the most coveted awards. The all-new 2017 Nissan Armada full-size SUV was the top vehicle in the  “Luxury Family” category while the 2017 Nissan TITAN PRO-4X full-size pickup took home the “Extreme Off-Road” award.

“Nissan trucks and SUVs are designed to be ‘adventure ready,’ whether tackling a challenging off-road trail or just loaded up with recreational equipment to take the family to a trailhead or lake,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. “We’re honored by the latest recognition by this independent group of active lifestyle media and enthusiasts.”

In the not too distant future, we are expecting that most car travel will be at the very least semi-autonomous. However, autonomous vehicles don’t just affect the driver. It has the potential to send vast ripples of change throughout society.

“People need to have a positive mindset to introduce the technology,” said Tetsuya Iijima, General Manager of Autonomous Drive Technology Development Department at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “For society to change… people need to understand that this is good for their future. Then, customers need to understand what the technology can offer.” he continues.

In other words, a step-by-step approach to new technology is essential in this case. Customers want to be confident in the vehicle when it comes to reliability, cybersecurity, and safe interactions between the vehicle and the environment. Nissan Intelligent Driving with ProPilot has this covered. It uses five radar units, four laser scanners, and an eight-way camera system to watch and predict occurrences on the road and has seen widespread success with the Nissan Serena in Japan.

While the switch to autonomous features and driving will take a few years to introduce, evolve, and accept, it’s best that driver’s now understand that the changes are coming and to keep an open mind when introduced to a new technology.
