The ongoing Nissan TITAn Truckumentary series has released its newest segment, Chapter 5: Heart of Cold.  This new chapter is actually an extension of chapter 4’s voray into the world of durability testing.  In that chapter, Nissan took us behind the scenes of their testing facility where they showed the vehicle being subjected to a variety of durability tests including extreme weather testing inside of a controlled wind tunnel. This chapter takes things a bit further by actually bringing the new TITAN to some of the coldest areas of the country for real life weather durability testing.

For this testing, engineers took the TITAN to the locations such as Denver, Colorado; the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Fairbanks, Alaska. There, the team performed a series of cold tests which measure how long it takes for the TITAn’s interior cabin to warm up after it has been sitting out in the cold for an extended period.  Additionally, this also allowed them to study how well the truck actually performs on snow covered and icy roads and to see how much dirt and snow the truck picked up while on the road.

U.S. sales of the Nissan LEAF hit an impressive milestone when the 75,000th model be sold in the U.S.. It  was purchased by Rishabh Mehandru of Portland, Oregon. Mehandru was proud to be the milestone buyer as he has been a LEAF owner for two years and has strongly advocated for its impressive capabilities even recently talking a friend into buying one. Mehandru stated that he loves the LEAF for its zero-emissions environmentally-friendliness and its efficiency that he experiences everyday on his 30 mile commute to work.

“Rishabh’s enthusiasm for his LEAF is a perfect example of what we call the cul-de-sac effect,” said Brendan Jones, director, Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. “With more and more Nissan LEAF owners on the road, we see shoppers coming in already educated on LEAF’s benefits because they got to drive one that belongs to a friend or neighbor. It’s that kind of word-of-mouth that really drives Nissan LEAF sales.”

The Nissan LEAF has a variety of available features that include 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-speaker BOSEŽ energy efficient audio system and leather seats.  Additionally, this model has an EPA estimated full battery driving range of 84 miles* and an MPGe of 126 city/ 101 highway*.

Chapter 3 in the Nissan “TITAN Truckumentary” was recently released by the automaker, focusing on the design team that worked on this all-new model. This third installment is titled “Sketch Pad” and is narrated by design manager Diane Allen. In the video, Allen discusses how she and her team worked together to come up with a look for this all-new model using inspiration from objects that they felt represented the ideology of the new TITAN.

Allen says that the biggest challenge was to create a vehicle that would represent NIssan while offering consumers the look and feel of a traditional truck with updated, more modern features.
