Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Alumni David Guzman and Kevin McMahon recently returned from their ultimate outdoor adventure through the Alaskan wilderness which took place with the Nissan Titan custom created for this trip though Project Titan. This trip was nearly a year in the making and was Nissan’s way of trying to give back to two men who risked their lives defending their country. The project was uniquely interactive from start to finish with Nissan fans having the ability to provide input and suggestions via various social platforms with the #projecttitan tag.  The entire 10 day trip was documented and will be released as a youtube series sometime this fall.

Both Guzman and McMahon expressed their sincere gratitude at having been chosen to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

“The most cherished moment was when we came up on a ridge and I was driving, and we parked the truck. And all of a sudden, from the bottom of a tree line across the bay we saw an American eagle come up. What could be more picture perfect, being in a truck like that, that view, seeing that American eagle? It meant a lot,” said David Guzman, WWP alumnus.

“On behalf of all of my brothers and sisters in the Wounded Warrior Project, and service members, I can’t say thank you enough to any of the organizations. To have been selected and then to complete this adventure – I have got memories that will last more than a lifetime,” said McMahon.

Nissan recently made a $1 million donation to Habitat for Humanity in support of their ongoing effort to develop quality affordable housing for families in need. In addition to the financial donation Nissan will also be donating four Nissan Frontier trucks ot Nissan NV commercial vehicles to the organization as well.

This is not the first time Nissan has provided support to Habitat for Humanity, the company first got involved with the organization after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita back in 2005. Since then Nissan has been an extremely active supporter with employees accumulating over 70,000 volunteer hours to assist in the rebuild of more than 60 homes.  Additionally, Nissan donations over the years have amounted to $11.6 million.

“With Habitat, Nissan has a broader platform through which we can support the communities where our customers, dealers and employees live, carrying out our corporate vision to enrich people’s lives,” said Nissan senior vice president Scott Becker. “And as Habitat volunteers, our employees can engage directly in addressing local needs for affordable housing by making personal commitments of their time and effort on Habitat home builds.”

For the first week in October five employees from Canada and the U.S. will travel to Fort Worth and Dallas, TX to join over 4,000 volunteers working with the Carter Work Project to rebuild over 100 homes.

Nissan’s Project Titan vehicle has finally reached completion after nearly a year of ongoing production as a specially customized model. Its creation was originally announced at the beginning of the year when Nissan enlisted the assistance of the public to help with development. The basis of the vehicle is a 2014 Titan Crew Cab PRO-4X® that was then given specific enhancements and customizations that were voted on by Facebook fans.

This vehicle was customized from the inside out giving it an all new look with a digital-camouflage design and a variety of new features such as 18-inch Fuel Revolver D525 Wheels wrapped in 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires, Bulldog LED Lighting and a ARB Deluxe Bull Bar. Additionally, this model comes with a customized camping trailer in tow that contains a tent, spare tire, camp-style kitchen, and water/fuel storage.

Now that the vehicle has been completed, two veterans from the wounded warrior project will be taken on the ultimate off-road adventure through Alaska. The adventure will be recorded and released as a YouTube series for the public to enjoy.

“The robust Titan serves as a great starting point for an adventure of this magnitude. With the help of Nissan’s Facebook fan base, Project Titan is fully equipped for the Alaskan Frontier,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations U.S. “I’m very much looking forward to following the Wounded Warrior Project team as they make their way through Alaska behind the wheel of Project Titan. Nissan celebrates during "National Drive Electric Week"

During the 2014 National Drive Electric Week Nissan was the exclusive automotive sponsor for the over 100 events that took place globally during the course of the annual week-long celebration. This celebration, which is organized by Plug In America, Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association first began back in 2011. Originally called National Plug-in Day, the event was extended to a week long affair that celebrates and spreads the word about plug-in models.

“LEAF owners have become our most effective marketers. Their enthusiasm for their LEAF and its benefits drives family, friends and co-workers to consider and purchase one for themselves,” said Perry. “This has a viral effect, where one LEAF sale in a neighborhood or office often triggers several additional sales.”

The Nissan LEAF has become the most popular electric model globally. In the U.S. alone, the amount of LEAF owners has exceeded 60,000.

President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. Carlos Ghosn has announced that Philippe Klein will be the new chief planning officer and a member of the company’s Executive Committee. This will happen as of September 15, 2014 following approval by the company’s Board of Directors.

He then returned to Renault for five years, and returned in 2007 as a Nissan senior vice president in charge of the CEO and COO offices and Corporate Administration. He remained with Nissan through most of 2008 and then went back to Renault to lead the Product Planning, Programs there.

“Philippe Klein will make a significant contribution to Nissan,” said Ghosn. “He brings considerable engineering and product management expertise to Nissan as well as a deep knowledge of and a long experience in the industry and in the Alliance.”
